NICK HERMAN
VOICE LESSONS
Nick has spent years honing his skills as a voice teacher. His students range from Broadway and touring singers to dancers just starting to develop their technique.
He believes that vocal technique should serve the singer by providing ease and consistency across the range and that singing should not be made complicated! Every student is unique and his different goals.
Nick creates a program specifically designed for the needs of each student. Nick holds graduate degrees from NYU in Vocal Pedagogy and Vocal Performance. And as a working industry music director, He brings a unique perspective to the role of voice teacher. He understands first-hand the ever-growing industry requirements for singers and has the skills to prepare each singer to be their best.

STYLES COACHING
Soon after he began working in casting and music directing, Nick realized that a major reason singers don’t get hired for a gig is that they don’t sound “right” for a certain style. Virtually no school program prepares students for live singing in different styles. Because of this, many incredible singers get passed over for roles simply because they don’t know how to approach the styles required in the industry today.
Nick combined his knowledge of how the voice works with his industry background to create a method for teaching singers how to sing in different styles while maintaining their own voice and their technique. His method is unique because it is not centered around making your voice sound like someone else. It is centered around learning the nuances of the style and then using your own voice and sound to produce them. This way you are able to sound strong in many styles while not trashing your voice! Nick has developed a name for himself in the business as a specialist in training singers for different styles.
He is available for one-on-one coaching sessions and can also work with your group or ensemble as a clinician.

MUSIC DIRECTOR / PIANIST
Nick started playing the piano at the age of six, and by middle school, he was helping conduct choir class. Directing music has been his passion ever since.
A strong musician and team player, he possess the skills necessary to musically steer the performance of a live show for maximum impact. Specializing in a variety of musical theatre and popular music genres, he understands the stylistic nuances of each. Unlocking the power of the material often lies in understanding and being able to communicate the stylistic specificity of the material to the orchestra and cast. Beyond credentials as a music director, he brings training as a voice teacher with graduate degrees from NYU in vocal performance/musical theatre and vocal pedagogy.
This rare combination sets his work apart. By understanding both industry expectations and also knowing how to translate them into “singer language,” he gets unmatched results .
